LAYOUT: Everything happens for a reason

I have been playing with more Shimmerz.  I wanted to create a vibrant background with texture and little sparkle.
To create it, all I did was spray on colour and add a little water to move it around with a brush to blend my colours.
I also add some drips and splatters.
A very simple (no thinking) background. Tee hee.
I love how this page turned out.

Products used:  Colouringz: No yoking, oh say can U sea, Well Blue me down.
Spritz, chance of rain,
Vibez, Jeni B Bleu, Sweet heart.

Running into a whirl wind.

This morning, after putting the boys the on the bus, I walked the dirt tracks around the farm. About 5km.  Life can send your head into a whirl wind. Your mind starts off at the coffee shop, quickly changes to necessities of house chores, then whirls back to creativity, takes off again and spins unpredictable and uncontrollable.

You would think that after a very spontaneous family trip to the beach that I'd be cool as a cucumber. But the ciaos of the last few weeks at school, has  me spinning.  It's hard at times to keep your feet grounded, at walking pace,  stopping to pick a bunch flowers for the dinning table.

I find it hard to focus on big creativity projects. Even a simply layout. So this Grateful travelers notebook I made, is the ultimate key to creating on small scale whilst in the whirl wind. It graciously allows for the unpredictable and spontaneous-ness (is that a word), for my creativity.

More coffee, sleep and creativity.
Yes please.

TAGS: Mixed media

Happy Monday!
Lets, argh, pretend to enthusiastic about Mondays.
Got try, right?

Monday nights,
thats another story!

Mondays aside, I have  some tags to share with you using more Shimmerz!
3 different tags and 3 different shimmerz products.
Now, before look at the prettiness,
I shall warn you that,
1. I tried to make these masclin like. Well, because I have zilch bam nothing in my tag basket that even resmebles male.
2. I fought tooth and nail to not put any flowers.
3. I gave in. I put just a few flowers, because if I didnt I would have no hair left on my head.
4. I think there mascuin enough.

Products used: Coloringz, Well Blue me down, Oh Say can U sea, No yoking, Don't citron me.
                         Vibez, Jeni B Ble
                        Spritz: Chance of rain
Aqua Huez: Green with Envy, Rockin Robin, Blue me away, Crazy Daisy,
                                            Little Boy Blue,

Tag 1: Gesso went down first to give me a base to work off. I then added some texture paste with a small triangle stencil. I then used Aqua Huez. I like to start off with light colour and then build it. Then I add on some colouringz for a bit of brightness and some paint splatters. Then I add all my bits and pieces to create the tag.

Tag 2:  This time I went brights straight up. I simpy spraying around some colouringz and a little vibez. Not only do I love the vibrance but also how it shows up the texture.

Tag 3: I went with all Aqua Huez.  To make the Aqua Huez brighter I simply waited for the pot to become drier. I did however jsut add some splatter with coloringz.

Some mixed media, masculine type tags.
Well, I tried! :-)

Thankful for a bed to sleep in.

Between the chaos of motherhood and being a farmers wife, I've managed a fair bit of creativity (squeeeeal). In fact, this little creativity play has been my way of dealing with a lot of stress and pressure of life'e experience

Its funny what life deals at you. Some things that directly affect you or perhaps some things that affect other people more. Somewhere in your heart, because your compassionate, loving and caring human, your heart breaks. Times when you feel helpless and just have to say "I have no words".  I have always tried to look at the bright side of each trial. To look at what this experience can teach you, show to you about life.  Now, I am not saying I am an optimistic person, but sometimes looking 'up' can help you deal with those 'lemons' in life.

Being thankful each day for each other, the roof over our head and even the bed we sleep in.

Taking time to document the thankful things in life is rewarding and gratifying.

Patchwork skirt and layers...

One of my favorite things to do when i get an ephemera pack is to layer. The Hip kit October kit was full of ephemera . I had started the process of layering under my photo and all around.
I took a little break from my creativity space. (I was getting frustrated... sign to walk away for a while), browsed Instagram and saw Terhi  Koskinen had created something simpler. This gorgeous human is the queen to white space, layering a little mixed media. In my eyes in anyway.

I then felt brave enough to finish the layers. I love the page a lot. Even more so because this photo I have had printed in my box since May.  Mothers day, of me and my kid.

The layers even replicate the patch work in my skirt, don't you think?

Five things

Project Life has always been a fun and pretty way to document the kids life. I have been project life-ing for about 4 years. Not one bit sorry.

Here's five reasons why I love project life.

One: I absolutely love looking through my photo album from my childhood that my Mum did for me. So many memories, good and bad, things i forgot that i did at just ten years of age. I want my children to be able look back at there photo album and experience what I feel when I look at my photo album. Nothing but gratitude and happiness  for my mother because she took the time to compile these amazing photo albums.

Two: Its a great way to remind myself to be thankful for each moment I have with my children. All I need to do is *wink* and  the kids will be leaving home and getting married. Each moment with them while there little is like a rare diamond. I am holding these kids close to me as much as I can.

Three: It helps this ol noggin of mine remember even the littlest things we accomplished.  I can guarantee when I get to that nursing home and the kids are showing me there albums it will bring a lot of joy to my heart, reminiscing back then...

Four: I get to make project life all pretty. It also gives me the opportunity to do a project life card when I don't have a lot of time to be creativity.

Five: Its a form of memory planning. The kids say funny things all the time. "Mum if your sick and tired of telling me to put your shoes away, then prehaps you should go to bed if your sick and tired..." They draw pretty pictures and leave little notes around the house. Arent they sweet. Project life is a place to store the memorabilia. I can pop in the arm band from when they went to the inflatable water park,  the packaging from there favorite chocolate bar at the age of seven. All these little things change over a lifetime, so in fact, this project life album can be a piece of the children's childhood history.

Mini Album / playing on a small scale

I am loving this #31minsfor31days over on Instgram. Its just a whole lot of creativity fun on a small scale.  The idea behind this task was to take 31 minutes this month each day for yourself. Because we all know after October that the months become a blur.

This is total play time for Mum. Because you know what, the house is always a work in progress. I have this little affirmation on the white board " The house is a work in progress. Perfection is not an option".  I am slowly learning that those 'picture- perfect homes'  you see in magazines are far from the real motherhood world. Having colouring pencils and wooden jigsaws all over the floor brings happiness and memories.

Some days I sit down to make something pretty, and it just wont flow.  Its just a whole lot of paper shuffle. Down sizing to a little Mini album has given me back that flow. I look at the pages in this album and see sketches for big pages.
Creativity is a marvelous thing.

More adventures await in my mini album, a little play with creativity on a small scale.
