Recycling items in my Memory Planner

Hello Friends,
Orgainsation and making things beautiful are two things I love.
I find if I have everything written down, my thoughts, plans for the day, I can function a little better.
What I am finding a lot fun with is using 'recycled' materials in my planner.  Not only does it help tell the story, but it gives this planner a lot of meaning.
I have kept this beautiful paper bag, for a while now and was still relucant to keep it, you know, that special project that never comes.. Tee hee.. but now it has my packaging from the seeds I planted in my garden. The seed packet is not that pretty, so popping it away still keeps the page pretty and memory is recorded.
Another thing I love to keep is packaging from some 'treats' that we get when we go shopping. This packet is from the gingrbead that my daughter loves when we get coffee before doing our groceries. All I did was embellish it on the front and add some journaling, otherwise some one looking in my planner would think I am maybe weird keeping a biscuit package! Tee hee

Then I popped a 4 x 6 project life card on the pack. More prettiness uh?

I also like to adhere cards and things in my planner with some washi tape, which allows it be a flap for interaction.
This little card the kids got in the mail with some Easter craft. The picture on it was super cute, so I cute it up to fit in a little 4 x 6 plastic pocket. It acts as a divider as well.

I even popped in my full card from coffees at Maccas. Tee hee. I love keeping this bits and pieces, it adds so much meaning to my memory planner.
I hope this inspires you to start adding in your recycled items from your day into your planners to help tell the story of your day.
Have a lovely week! :)

Easter Mini Album

Hello! I want to  share with you a fun little Easter Mini Album I made for shimmerz.  Each year, I tell myself that I will not to buy too many Easter Eggs, and of course the choccie eggs multiply very quickly!

I have always wanted to document our Easter at home. Now, its nothing fancy for us at home. But there are memories and things the kids will want to remember.

So I got myself I little orgainsed and created a Mini Album ready to just pop the photos in.
Pop over to the shimmerz blog to see the album made.

*Diclaimer*  Lots of photos coming up.

Project life with ton of colour.

Just wanting to pop by with a project life page using the March 2017 Project life kit from Hip kits that I have shared over at the Hip Kit blog.
When there is a lot of colour in your photos and you don't want to change the photo to black and white, try and add some neutral colours to your page, like I have done with  the White Project Life card.
This just 'tones' the page a little and not be so overwhelming.

How cute are the embellishments in the kit? Those Pink fresh puffy stickers and ephemera pack from Shimelle. They would suit any theme Project life themed page.

Its interactive and its fun.

Hello. Felicity back here today with a fun interactive layout using the April 2017 kit. Tell me one thing you love about your layouts or other people layouts?
Is it creating texture on your pages?
Is it reaching out to the computer screen hoping you can just touch that layout?  Tell me we have all done that!! LOL
Being able to tell a story with the papers that reflect your photo?
Is it that awesome feeling when you finish a page and think, WOW, I did that? I made that?

For me its a yes to all those questions. This page is no exception.
I wanted to create something interactive. I had the packaging laying on my table from the Dear Lizzy flags that come in the embellishment kit. It gave me the idea of creating a little flap over the photo to add a little interaction. I thought it would be fun, in the sense, when this page is in the 12 x 12 album that you come across this page and get to interact. Am I making sense?

So I started out with the Shimmerz Paste-eez and the stencil from the colour kit. I then started building up layers with my photo and lots of 3D foam dots to add dimension. I fussy cut more those adorable houses from Dear Lizzy paper add them in. I wanted this reflect the photo of being home and lazing about in bed.

Then I created my little flap. I kept the embellishments minimal because I wanted to see the photo peeking out. There are so many nice sentiments from Pink fresh in the project life kit, so I add those as part of my journalling on the page.

To adhere the flap I used 3D foam dot and an exclusive enamel dot to cover up the 3D foam dot.
Lastly I created small cluster at the bottom to make the layout flow and for balance.

Hope this inspires you to try something different with your layouts and your kit.

We are enough just how we are.

A few times I have caught myself thinking "I am not enough",  not self - accepting, being critical  of ever little decision I make, second guessing myself and comparing myself to other people.

Since I have started this #the100dayproject of simply spending 10 minutes for myself, documenting, with no purpose, no thought to the way the page will turn out. Its help me  'catch' those negative vibes and just realise where I am. To reflect, to relax and simply do the best I can.

I originally started this mini album without a purpose, to put in whatever I feel inspired to do. It seems that each time I sit down, I am documenting moments, thoughts, photos of me.  Realising that this little album is all about 'me'. A place with no criticism, and no judgement.

This album is fast becoming a 'searching' tool for my thoughts. To shake off the negative thoughts, the comparison of me to 'Sally' and simply be me.
This world is full enough of negativity that I dont need to be contributing to it too.
We are enough just how we are.

Yeah.. lets go

Hello Hip kit friends. Felicity here today with a fun layout using the March 2017 kit.
Ready. Set. Go... I am referring to those super super cute  Dear Lizzy flags? I did try and stall, in using them, you know.. that special page that never seems to happen. Then, I ummed and ahhed about how to use them? I sat at my desk procrastinating, as we do, and just fiddled with them in my hands. I bit like a cat playing with a piece string. Making this shape, holding them out and admiring them, then I turn them up one way, then the other upside down, making a pattern, which gave me the inspiration and idea.

I pop them onto the little packet that the exclusive flair came in and layed it up. I used the packet to hide my journalling.

I then kept layering my embellishments at the bottom of my page and around the photo. How cute are those Dear Lizzy tags? The sentiments are so cute and add a little shimmer of gold to the page.

I love the idea also of the Pink fresh sentiment sheet that helps us add more journaling and meaning I guess, to the page. This sheet as so many sentiments that jsut could be used for any photos. There not specific for a certain theme, which makes them vertisale and value for money, uh. These come in the project life kit.

We better not forget the Shimmerz Paste-eez in the colour kit and that stencil. I wanted to add in some circular embellishements, because of the circles in Noni dress, so I hand stitched the circle that you can see in the stencil.

I hope this inspires you today, to use the Hip kits to its fullest potential. There is no limitations and no rules. Just have fun and even if it means fiddling with something at your desk, like I did with the Dear Lizzy flags.

Recharge yourself with just ten minutes of creativity

Hello friends! School break for my kids here, so that means i am listening to fits of giggles, the hum of a race car and the "oh cool" from a Lego creation.  This can be a time when we as Mothers don't get the 'down time' we need to recharge ourselves each day.

I find recharging myself more important when the kids are all home on school break, because lets be honest, we can loose our 'cool' a little easier than on a weekend when there home for the 2 days out of seven. Its harder to do a little 'something' for yourself because the kids are there 24/7 demanding you.
"Mum, what can I eat?"
Never mind there's a fridge full of food and pantry overflowing.

My recharging is definitely craft. Scrapbooking. Sewing. DIY's at home. But how do we get the time to do that? I don't have a magic lamp to rub and poof there's your answer, but, what I do, is take off the expectation of 'me time'. Ten minutes playing with paper and glue is better than none.
Be grateful for the little things each day.
Sometimes I manage thirty minutes a day, because the kid play outside or are just pre-occupied playing happily.

This is were a sketch for your layouts can be the bees knees. It can be a lifesaver. All the thinking of a design is done. When you look at  sketch, lets use this one for Hip Kits as an example, you see the circle of stars, then the triangle. These are just elements for the base of your design, It doesn't mean you have to put a triangle under your circle of stars. The sketch is your guide, your interpretation.

I want you challenge yourself, to take just 10 minutes for you, to be crafty and have a sketch ready. Make that ten minutes for you profitable.
A quiet recharge just for you.
Trust me, you'll feel better after.
