Little Missy Moo

Hello lovely people. I loved the May kit from Hip kit club and I tell you, after 4 layouts, 2 project life pages and a mini album, I dont have much left.

I wanted to create a page this time with the Prima watercolours from the colour kit and those Crate paper stamps in the project life kit. I had no direction for this page, so I just started off with a gesso background and watercolour paints. I didn't think about where they were going to much, all I had in the back of my mind so to be caresful what colours go next to each other or they might turn out a little 'muddy'. Once that dried, I used my staz on black ink and stamped 'Noni and the number 2'.

Then it was a matter of me choosing out embellishments to make it all look pretty! :) I ended up creating a the big letter "N" for her name and hand stitched around it. I love big hand cut titles, I admire them, but havent actually done one myself! Might need to work on that uh!

I used the really nice Chevron paper to back my page, it just went so well with the watercolours.

Oh, I love all the bits the pieces in this kit.
Whats your favorite thing from the kit?
Mine would have to be those stamps and watercolours!

Have a wonderful creative week!

Alter Home decor

Hello lovely people. Just popping by to share my cute projects for Shimmerz over here on the blog.

Products used: Pasteez - Tree hugger
Colouringz Well blue me down and Oh say can U sea.
Actronez - 3 sheets to the wind and Jiven Jade

First off with the little old wooden spool, I coated that with the White Actronez, 3 sheets to the wind, then I used mostly the the colouringz over the top once it was dry.  I took the top off the bottles and used a brush to wipe it on. Then I finished off with the paint splatters and teeny bit of the Pasteez on the edge to add dimension.

Next I alter this cute little frame. I did one about 12 months ago. So when I saw this pre-loved frame, I knew I wanted to give it a new lease of life just like the other one.
So once again, I started with the Actronez, 3 sheets to the wind, then I brush on some of the Acrtonez in Jiven Jade. To add some sparkle and shimmer, I finished off with some of the colouringz.

Oh I love how these turned out. They take pride of place on my mantle in the lounge room.

Hope this inspires you to try something new with your shimmerz.

A cute twirly Mini Album

Hello lovely people! Felicity here today with a super cute mini album using the May kit! This turn out way better than I thought it would.  My little challenge was to 'be clever with alphas'.

Here's 5 tips on ways to use alphas in a different kind of way.

Tip 1 : Put the Alphas down on your project and trace around them. Then remove the alphas and hand stitch the word. Its so effective and fun. Adds a ton of texture in a subtle way too.

Tip 2: Try and put your alphas down in a shaped way. Use an embellishment as a guide, just as I have done here with the word Fun. Its curved around the top of the tag. Adds lots of fun and interest to your project.

Tip 3: Why not try and change the direction of your alphas? I always, 95% of the time, put my title horizontal. This time I went vertical with the word 'magic'. Doesn't it look effective?

Tip 4:  Mix it up. This is something I don't do enough. I tend to stick to the same alpha, but look at how fun it looks with the thickers and the stickers from the shimelle book in the project life kit. Its also a great way to add a longer sentiment or title.

Tip 5: Dont be afraid to chop up the thickers. If there is a longer title or just part of it you like, dont be scared to chop it up and make it fit your project. Like what I did with dreaming of... which mind you, are the exclusive puffy stickers in the kit.  Oh I love the script on 'dreaming of'

Hope this inspires you today, to be a little more creative with alphas.

Before you go, I'll leave you a bonus page - a Project Life spread and process video.

Have a great week and I hope its a creative one!

Saturday morning.

There is something so therapeutic about sitting and writing out jorunalling. It not something that I share alot of. But this time I wanted to use the journalling as a feature to my page.

I was doing a clapping my hands, twirling around when I got this photo of the kids in bed writing. It warms my heart when the kids hop into bed in the morning and read.

I also had a lot of sentiment stickers that seem to sum up the photo and the moment I was documenting.  I wanted those sentiments to be amongst the journaling, so I added them on the tracing paper for more texture.

Bright colours on a gloomy day

When I created this page it was a gloomy winter day. It was so nice to sit and make bright colourful creations.

I loved all the frames in the Pink Paislee Summer lights collection. How could I not fussy cut them up and use them to frame my photos. Lots of machine and hand stitching to add more texture and interest. How could the colours not make you smile?

I have a feeling that some of this collection will feature in my stash consistently.

Little girl among the flowers

I was so drawn to all the flowers in the May Kit at Hip Kits. I knew there would be a page that would involve a ton of fussy cutting.

I layed down all the flowers on the edge and add a few 3D dots on some of the flowers to add more demision.

I then pulled out the brads and buttons in the kit to add them to a few of the centres of the flowers. Just to take away all the 'paper' texture.

I added some of the Prima water colours under the photo which just makes this look so pretty. The colours matched perfectly with the flowers.

I then finished off with a few little circles and hand stitching. It just balances the page out and makes it flow. Oh, I love this page.

Summer weekend Mini Album

Oh I love making Mini Albums. There cute, there fun and a great way to experiment.
This little album was made for Pink Paislee using the Summer Lights collection.

I decided to document our time at the pool. Our second home in summer. So many memories there with the kids, the swimming, the slides, the milkshakes, the water play. I do love our summer weekends in the water.

I used some big 5 x 5 inch photos. The take the focus away from the busyness of the photo, I decided to create a little flap. I could then add more interest and interaction and also put as much journaling as necessary under the flap.

No project is complete without hand stitching. I stitched the edge of the scallop to add a little more texture, a very subtle amount.

I then decided to create a grid on the back of the album with all those cute stickers and chipboard pieces. They seemed to be able to sum up our summer at the pool.

There's a cute little pocket in the middle with some jorunalling. I turned one of the cute apart pieces form the paper, into a tag, so that I could add twine for interest.

Thanks again to Pink Paislee for inviting me to be Guest designer and trusting me to do this Summer Lights collection justice.

Happiness with pastels

Products used: Coloringz: Oh say can  U sea / Don't Citron me / no yoking / Pink Stiltoes
Vibez / Jeni B Blue
Hello Friends, Felicity here today.
I had so much fun making this layout. Can you tell?

I am just loving a few of those pastel colours at the moment.  That I wanted to create a pastel type background with my Shimmerz. I used some of my favorite colours of blues, greens a dash of pink.
When I saw the Shimmerz shortz with Missy using a palette knife to move your shimmerz around with I had to try it too. It turned absouletly amazing. Pop over and have a look on the Shimmerz You Tube channel.

I finished off the page with some fussy cutting and lots of hand stitching.  Love how this came together.

I have a video of my process too.
